Opua: low
Opua: low
The predicted low is passing south of us, bringing wind and rain. The timing is good. We don’t need to go ashore today. Tomorrow we do to pick up a rental car so I can drive Carol to the airport on Saturday and frighten sheep. At the moment the tide has swung HAWKE’s stern into the wind and rain is sheeting down the companionway plexiglass insert.

Two quotes from Jim Harrison’s ‘Legends of the Fall’ that I meant to include in the last entry.
“And how a man is never the same after rounding the Horn in a seventy-knot gale.”
I have and that might even be true.
“Besides the old man said he disliked the smell of smoke or the sound of engines at sea and it was too late for him to develop an interest in the grotesque.”

Carol took the above photo.
