Evanston: Torqeedoed
There is an outboard in our living room.
The Torqeedo Travel 1003 arrived early this afternoon, and I quickly had the three parts: tiller; battery; and shaft; assembled and then disassembled.
The owner’s manual is provided in eight languages. The English version is twenty-three mostly illustrated pages long.
The only recommended maintenance is to rinse the motor off after use in salt water and to spray the electrical connections with WD40 every couple of months.
The Travel 1003 battery has recently been increased from 400 to 520 watt hours. Connecting the tiller arm to the battery provides a read-out of the charge state. When I first hooked up the provided charger, the battery was at 10%. Now it is 21%. It seems to be charging at about 6% or 7% an hour.
The weather forecasts here vary, but all agree that it will be considerably cooler tomorrow. GANNET is not yet ready to go sailing. She may go powering.
