Evanston: uninviting
Evanston: uninviting
I stood--or rather reclined--the midnight watch last night. That wasn’t planned, intended or desired; but I did anyway.
I went to bed at 8 p.m. Slept soundly for four hours. Woke at midnight and didn’t get back to sleep until 3 a.m. Woke again at 5:45. Carol’s alarm clock is set for 6, and I don’t like being awakened by alarms.
While on watch I read on my Kindle, NEPTUNE’S INFERNO, which is about the naval engagements off Guadalcanal.
With almost seven hours sleep I am on this foggy day reasonably rested.
I walked down to the lake this morning.
A few feet of it can be seen through the fog. Maybe inch high waves. With an air temperature of 38ºF/3ºC, it occurred to me that my long underwear may be on the wrong side of the ocean.
An exchange of emails this afternoon is making it likely that the Moore 24 GROWLER will be trailered down here and become mine on April 30 or May 1.
