Evanston: unreal
Evanston: unreal
The future GANNET does not quite seem real to me, particularly today when the temperature has dropped and we have a gale warning. Fourteen foot/four meter waves are expected on Lake Michigan--and possibly on Lake Shore Drive--and heavy rain, which on the northern Wisconsin shore will be snow. Snow is also predicted for Duluth, Minnesota, GANNET’s current home, where it is 29ºF/-2ºC.
I’ve already spent money on the boat. Paid a non-refundable fee for her slip. Bought a second suit of foul weather gear.
I’ve looked at pictures of her and other Moore 24s. Read what I can about the boats. Considered how I might outfit and paint her. Speculated about where I might sail her.
The pictures were taken four years ago from THE HAWKE OF TUONELA on her mooring. An elegant curve of wing.
The front is approaching. The sky is getting darker.
Maybe in two weeks she will be real.
