Opua: moored
Opua: moored
I’m in love.
With Carol, of course. But also the new traveler, which opens up and transforms the cockpit.
I’ve lost the double line bags that hung from the aft side of the bridge; the double cup holder; and will have to relocate the two cam cleats for the Monitor control line that I had bolted to the port side of the hand rail.
A tie rod is being manufactured that will run from the middle of the traveler to a deck mounted plate. If I went back to the dock, Matt would install it; but I think I can drill two holes and secure two bolts.
Also after I’m sure of the length, I’ll probably have the rigger splice the ends of the mainsheet together so that it is one continuous line. Pulling in on both sides sheets the sail faster at a 3 to 1 power ratio; leaving one side cleated and pulling in on the other gives slower 6 to 1 power.
I’ve put a couple of coats of oil on the teak pads. I’m not sure I’ll keep on doing that and may let them weather.
I’m also not sure that THE HAWKE OF TUONELA is still for sale. I like too many things about this boat, in addition to the new traveler.
A front is due to pass through tomorrow. Next week I go sailing.
